Recently, I’ve become a huge fan of public declarations of intention.
That’s a fancy way of saying: tell people what you’re going to do.
But, I like the fancy words.
Because how often are we flippant about reading a book, taking a trip or promising to call someone back?
But when you declare intent publicly, things change.
You set the expectation of transformation.
My last bit of public nudity came when I told myself:
We had just gotten a Peloton bike, and I was going to make the most of it. I told myself of the promise, but I said:
“You’re going to document every ride on the internet to stay accountable. You ride, you journal. And you’re going to tell everyone about your challenge.”
And so, I did.
It worked (minus some minor damage to my body). And now by default, I’m working out three times a week. Prior to this experiment, the working out never stuck. Now, it feels permanent.
So, let me get naked here:
I’m showing up here everyday to talk about momentum and change.
In doing, I know it will help shift my focus from wine to helping freelancers and entrepreneurs build their marketing technology stacks.
